about cards

How fast are you?
Very! We guarantee proofs in 2 business days (after photos are received) and shipment 2-3 business days after proofs are approved. During the month of December our guarantee moves to 4-5 business days.

Wedding line? Proofs in 2 business days and shipment 7-10 days after proofs are approved by you. (We still can be much faster depending on the order.) This allows us to coordinate your Wedding Invitation pieces with the perfect envelope and envelope liner.

Most of the time, however, you'll find that proofs are out within 24 hours and we ship no more than 2 business days after you approve your proof. Read some of our client comments if you want to see how happy they are.

Why can't I make my own online proof? Other companies do...
We pride ourselves in not being like other companies. What you get is a personal designer who creates each of your proofs for you. All you need to do is place your order, submit your card details, design changes, and photos and we do the rest. We love personal service, something that is harder and harder to find these days and we LOVE offering it! Our clients seem to agree.

What makes your wedding line so unique?
We have had so much fun developing our wedding line! Jenna from J.Crew always inspires us! We have converted some of her fashion rules into paper for our wedding line. We "balance feminine pieces with tomboy accents…. mixing textures and opposites". So that translates to our wedding line by using linens with metallics and mattes. It's so beautiful and unique. Can I get a sample of your products before I order?
We have put together a sample pack of our products. This gives you a feel for our work and the vibe of Mango Ink! You will notice we are unlike the other card companies in more ways than one. Click here for more information.

Do you have a blog?
Funny you should ask. We do! There are lots of goodies there, including all the cool ideas that our clients have done that we don't have space to display in our catalog. Check it out and be inspired.

What makes you eco-friendly?
All of our card stocks and envelopes are eco-friendly, FSC certified. We also use only 100% recyclable boxes, our return address labels are made from recycled paper, we use 100% recycled kraft paper, and other recycled packing materials.

We also use local vendors and order all of our paper locally, using a local vendor for embossing the "mounted" card stock especially for Mango Ink. We also work with local artists and give to the community around us.

Being green is not a "fad" for us but a true conviction. We are proud of what we have done so far but will continue to make "green" a priority.

What type of paper do you print on?
We offer two versions of our photo cards; our classic cards and the wedding "layered" cards are printed on luster paper that are then mounted onto heavy eco-friendly 130 lb. card stock and our modern version is printed directly, edge to edge, onto eco-friendly, 130 lb. stock.

What type of paper do you mount on?
Our classic card designs are mounted on eco-friendly card stock with a subtle raised embossed border that frames each design. This is heavy 130lb card stock and custom made exclusively for Mango Ink! Our Wedding "layered" cards are mounted onto 120lb metallic card.

Can I print on the back of the modern card?
Each of our modern/unmounted cards have a full color back that matches the front. If you want to print something other than that on the back of your modern/unmounted cards, you can for $39.99 and our designers will work with you on that design.

I'm not sure if I need to hire a designer for a custom card or not?
We are happy to change any color scheme (to match photos), modify any text, swap out any font, remove any design element and/or modify the number of photos by 1, on any card you order for free.

We will also convert color photos to black and white.

If you want more than that, you'll probably want to hire a designer and can check out our custom page.

Can I get extra envelopes?
We throw in a couple of extra envelopes with each order. If you want to buy more, email heidi@mangoink.com and we will add them to your order.

Do I need extra postage for any of your products?
For the 5x7 cards there is no additional postage.

For square cards, the USPS requires an additional postage for square envelopes.

What if I'm not happy with the final product?
After you have approved the digital proof and we have begun printing we offer a 75% refund. If cards have been shipped to you, we will need the cards returned. Up to that point, you can quit the ordering process at any time (as nothing has been charged to your card).

If you need a reprint after the digital proof has been approved and the reason for the reprint was visible on the proof (wrong phone number, wrong photo choice, party details, spelling, etc...) we charge a 50% fee plus you will have to pay for shipping. Keep your envelopes because we won't send more with reprint.

Do you put your logo anywhere on the card?
Each of our cards are stamped or printed on the back with a small logo.

 

about photos

How do I send you photos?
After you place your order, simply email us the pictures at photos@mangoink.com. That email address will be all over the checkout pages when you order as well (just so you don't forget it.) Please include your order number in the subject line when you send photos. In special cases, we do accept original photographs via regular mail. Let us know if you need us to do that.

By submitting photographs, you are agreeing that you own valid copyrights for the photos and that you are, or have received permission, from those pictured in the photographs. If the photo is of a minor, you are agreeing that you are, or have received permission, from that minor's legal guardians.

Please be aware that purchasing prints of a photo, CD, or DVD from a professional photographer or studio does not transfer the copyright of the photo to you, and the photo cannot be reproduced without a release. You can be personally responsible for copyright infringement even if you did not intend to break the law.

We love to work with photographers, so if you are uncertain, have them call or email us.

What kind of photographs do I send?
As big and original as you have. We can often work with smaller images but the bigger the image (usually, the way your camera takes it) the better.

Please note that if you are planning on printing posters or using a template where the photo takes up much of the card, we can't use a thumbnail image.

My photo isn't in digital format - is there a way I can get it to you anyway?
You can find a scanner and scan it in at 300dpi or send us a note and we'll arrange for you to send us an original. We'll return the original with your order.

I can't decide which photos to use. Can I send you a bunch and let you decide?
Yes, you can. We do, however, ask that if you are going to send us photos and let us decide, that you let us decide. It usually makes our job easier if you try your best to choose the photos you love. If you love all of them, we will have fun!

Can I use professional images for my cards?
We can accept professional images for creating your order. However, we MUST receive written permission from the photographer.

Keep in mind that the unauthorized use of professional images is illegal. Really. It is.

Can/will you crop and/or adjust my photograph?
We will crop photos and perform minor adjustments (remove red eye or convert from color to b/w). However, our designers do not remove backgrounds, foreground items, change shirt colors, or perform major color adjustments on your photos, etc...

 

about designs

I see a Holiday Card design I like but I need a Thank You note?
As always, our templates are not the end of the story. Pick a background from a holiday card, a font from a thank you, and turn it into a Birthday Invitation. Whatever you want to do, whatever combinations you'd like us to try, we're willing.

Will I see the design before you print it?
Absolutely! We never print a card until you have seen a digital version and approved that proof. That also means that you have checked for spelling, dates, etc...

How many proofs will you do?
We will do five proofs for free. After that we charge $4.99 for every additional proof. In the years that we have been doing this, there have been a fairly small percentage of people who have asked for over four proofs and an even smaller percentage who have actually needed that many. We suggest you combine your suggestions into one email. Study the card and collect your changes rather than sending multiple emails with single changes for proofs.

We also do not do multiple design templates so that you can pick one and then begin to modify that. We can only work on the template that you have ordered. If you would like to see your photo on another template, other than the one your ordered, we will do that for a $6.99 charge.

Will the proof look identical to the real version?
Yes, realizing that prints and computer monitors don't look the same. There may be some color differences but we print exactly what you approve.

Can I print on the back of the modern card?
Each of our modern/unmounted cards have a full color back that matches the front. If you want to print something other than that on the back of your modern/unmounted cards, you can for $39.99 and our designers will work with you on that design.

about ordering

How do I order?
Find the design you like in our catalog and click on it. From there click the order button. You'll then have a chance to tell us how many you want (they come in sets of 8) and where to send them to as well as your personal information. You can also tell us any design changes you would like on your card in the shopping cart.

What is personal information?
Personal information is dates, names, sayings, or anything else that should obviously be personalized for your order.

When am I charged?
You will not be charged anything until your item goes to print and that won't happen until you have approved a proof and we start printing!

Will I be able to change the order (quantity,style) after I place the order?
You can always change the number of cards you need, etc... until we actually go to print. If you'd like more, we're happy to add more but once we print, we can't take away from the order without a 50% restocking fee. If you add, we'll try to combine the two and not make you pay shipping twice.

Do you have a minimum order?
Depending on the card you are ordering, the minimum order will vary. See our pricing page for all the minimum order information.

Do you offer volume discounts?
Yes on unmounted and no on mounted. See our pricing page for all the details.

I don't like ordering online. Can I call you?
You bet. Give us a call at 509.995.0035 or send us an email with your number and we'll call you.

The shopping cart says something about cookies?
Make sure cookies are enabled on your web browser. For most browsers this involves nothing more than going to your browser preferences and "enabling cookies". Here's a good resource if you're not sure if you should enable cookies.

Is it safe to give you my credit card?
We think it is. All of the "store" portion of our site is run by Yahoo! Store which means that they keep your credit card information and they store it much more securely than we ever could. If you're still not sure, there is lots of legal stuff you can read below, including Yahoo!'s terms of service. If you're really nervous you can call and give us your credit card over the phone.

On a side note, we strongly suggest that you do not email us your credit card information. That is not an especially secure way and we highly discourage it.

 

about shipping

Do I need extra postage for any of your products?
For any rectangle envelope, there is no extra charge for stamps.

For square cards, the USPS requires additional postage for square envelopes.

Do you ship international?
Yes! See our pricing page for shipping options.

How long will it take for me to get my cards?
Officially, we will email a proof to the email address you provide no later than 2 business days after we receive your photos. Once we have received approval of your proof, your order will be sent no later than 3 business days later. In all, that means your order will be sent out (via whatever shipping method you choose) 5 business days after you have sent us your photos. Again, that's the official line - we are usually much faster, depending on the season.
Please calculate those five days into choosing whatever shipping method you do...

Can I track UPS Shipping Methods?
Yes. You should receive an automatic notification once your package ships. You will be sent a tracking number so you can see where your package is at all times. Please be aware that Mango Ink is not responsible for UPS - we only get it to them and we don't have any control over what happens after that.
